Saw this feature on Mastodon and thought it could be useful over here:
When active, it would automatically delete posts older than X days / months / years.
Posts could be removed from the queue by either a dedicated "don't automatically delete this post" flag, or by having the poster Like the post.
(Mastodon's "don't delete if over X favs / boosts" flag doesn't really apply here because of lack of numbers, but more "don't delete this post" flag options would be useful)
Alternatively, could set a flag for individual posts, rather than *all* posts like how above does.
Posts that fit the deletion criteria would then be moved into a deletion queue and purged when the servers are quiet.
