Posts are narrow if only short posts are present on a page

I'm not sure what exact conditions are required, but if you look at a page that has one post with short lines or few words, the post will be just wide enough to fit the content, instead of filling the full area (excluding the personal notes/tag area on the right) like most pages. This not seem to occur in the tag view, just the main view. See attached screenshot.
