This is probably a very narrow request but I've made a couple of posts referencing .beats, which are usually formatted as "@xxx", and that gets interpreted as a link to a username. I know I can escape characters like asterisks to keep them from getting processed as Markdown, but as far as I can tell I can't escape the @ to keep words beginning with that character from being processed as usernames. Might be worth considering?

Yes please, this is also annoying when writing transcripts of twitter posts.
