I would like to know if I am about to load media from a remote source before I do it, for security and anti-tracking reasons. As long as there is a clear visual indicator that the media is remote, like how the iframely embeds are, I think this could be a good way to let people control the format of their posts better and also optionally reduce the amount of media storage that cohost has to do.

Cohost's fancy new audio player is nice! But, sometimes you'll want to link to an audio file externally, instead of uploading it directly to the post. Cohost's media embed does catch audio files, but doesn't currently use the fancy new audio player.
