This is a design issue with markdown and not something we can easily override or modify. your best bet here is to include a backslash before the number (`\1. item here`) to temporarily disable the behavior. I realize this isn't ideal and as we make changes to the post editor we'll look into ways to disable certain markdown features.

As the title says, means you can't make a list that counts down without looking up how markdown works and preventing it from parsing it as a list, it'll just start from the first number in the list and count up
