Small images should not be blown up to the width of the post

sometimes i want a small header image or sprite, but it's forced to be massive and blurry if uploaded directly, especially when it's a vertical aspect ratio. I've been working around it by uploading to a secondary account and making it be a markdown image embed, but it's a weird process. I think pixel artists would appreciate it too.
if there's any plans to streamline the process of making image embeds (like having a repository of images that you can use in your posts), then this issue would automatically get solved too, but i figured i'd ask for the smaller thing!

to clarify, i think it should be an *option*, not always on, but i dunno how the UI would be handled in that case...
