If you use the profile switcher when scrolled partway down a page the current scroll position is retained.
This is good when you're browsing somebody else's profile, since it allows you to change the profile you're interacting from without losing your place.
But it makes less sense when on the homepage timeline. If I'm browsing my timeline, and then switch profiles, I'm switching to a new timeline with a different set of follows. It'll jump back to page 1 on the new timeline as you'd expect, but it'll still retain the scroll position all the way down that page.
