The first time I tried searching for a tag, I included the # character at the start, and got zero results, I tried a bunch of different tags, wondered why none of them worked, and then later figured out that I need to avoid typing the # at the start to be able to find tags.
This is probably totally expected, but it's a minor UX issue for new users.
I think including the # should either: just work, or tell you not to include the #
